One of my fellow MVPs Nauzad, sent the following mail. I think this is a very valid question. Any comments??
If java is indeed so great, and truly "cross-platform", then how come none of the mass-market, high use softwares are written in java ??? One would think that yahoo would prefer to write its messanger ONLY in java so that they don't have to release different versions for different OSes.... and that logic should follow suit for products like winamp, icq, Eudora, Napster, ACDSee, Xing, Winamp, Sonique etc.
This question is not valid i think. Because, the utilities those are flooding market are targeted towards a famous, popular OS, but not MS at all. If you think of enterprise applications (server), the same question goes in opposite way. And even for Viruses spreading over the world. Companies or service providers never develop products on personal excitement or interest. They develop for business only.
